On Sunday afternoon, March 5th, 2017, at 17 hours, 10 minutes and 35 seconds, the world’s No. 1 golf player Dustin Johnson won the World Golf Championship in Mexico City.

The American champion came first in front of Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, in a top 6 dominated by Europeans. For the indomitable Dustin Johnson, it was his 14th title on the PGA Tour. Two weeks after winning the Genesis Open, Dustin Johnson had dominated the world once again by winning at Chapultepec: the total score 70/66/66/68, 14 under par is a little ahead of Englishman Tommy Fleetwood.

The champion experienced an entire range of emotions during this last game in Mexico City: at first happiness, when he turned in the lead after a flawless golf: four birdies for Johnson, including two consecutive holes # 8 and # 9, followed by some doubt, with two bogeys conceded in a row on 12 and 13, the fault of wayward putting.

Johnson would then catch up with a birdie on the 15th, but Fleetwood had no intention of letting go: when the Englishman made a birdie on the 18th and glimpsed the possibility of winning the playoffs, DJ saved the game by just enough and could thus enjoy his new title. The 32-year-old American confirmed his status as world No. 1 and became the second most successful player in WGC history (4 wins), behind Tiger Woods (18 wins). “This win as the world’s No.1 has a lot of value for me. Obviously, it’s a tricky position to tackle a tournament. I had a lot of pressure on my shoulders and I managed to play well despite everything.” Johnson said. $ 1.66 million dollars was the amount hit by Dustin Johnson after his victory, which makes him the 9th ranked player in history in career earnings, with a total of $ 42,718,344.

The epitome of a modern brand, Hublot was founded in Switzerland in 1980, around the creative concept called the


Art of
Fusion

which was very innovative and made waves in the watchmaking industry at the time.


Hublot was the first luxury watchmaker to combine gold and natural rubber. The case on the first watch drew inspiration from a boat’s porthole, an hublot in French, an original design that soon gained many fans, including members of royal families.

The brand experienced remarkable growth after Jean-Claude Biver, a notable figure in the Swiss watchmaking field, took over control of the company in 2004. Another turning point was the launch of the Big Bang chronograph in 2005, which brought the brand success and awards. Its original design was very distinctive and, with sharper corners and 6 screws that passed right through the case, it perfectly illustrated the concept of fusion and, therefore, the philosophy of the brand.


In the next four years, Hublot experienced a tenfold increase in turnover, and was bought by the LVMH group in 2008. The following year, a new high-tech manufacture in premises over 6000m2, set on the banks of lake Geneva, was inaugurated, which gave the brand more autonomy. The site is currently dedicated to the production of the UNICO movement, a column-wheel chronograph integrated into the dial side, conceived, developed and manufactured entirely by Hublot.

In the following years, there have been 4 collections- Big Bang, King Power, Classic Fusion and MP pieces, featuring movements ranging from the most simple to the most complicated. With these pieces, Hublot continues to innovate the art of fusion by combining materials such as Magic Gold, King Gold, carbon fiber, zirconium, magnesium, Hublonium (a combination of aluminium and magnesium), and titanium, with more traditional materials like gold, platinum, ceramics, steel and diamonds.


Eager to stay at the forefront of research into the latest high-tech materials, Hublot installed a foundry to produce in-house the Magic Gold, the scratch-resistant certified 18-carat gold, a world premiere and Hublot exclusivity, launched in 2011. In 2013, Hublot introduced a bright red-colored ceramic for the first time in the industry.

The technical innovations were accompanied by constant marketing developments. Hublot became the first luxury brand to enter the world of football, by becoming the “Official Timekeeper” of the EURO European championship, of FIFA, and the next two football World Cups.It is now the “Official Timekeeper” and “Official watch” of Ferrari, and is involved in the ocean world through the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Hublot is also the first luxury brand to have launched an online television service (Hublot TV).


The brand now boasts a network of more than 70 exclusive boutiques in the world’s most prestigious addresses, and has received numerous distinctions. In 2016, Hublot unveiled the Big Bang Unico Sapphire All Black with a full sapphire case, a milestone in Hublot’s history, as the brand invested in machines to be able to cut the sapphire in-house, allowing Hublot to produce more watches in sapphire in the future.
